In early summer each year, a Co-ed Children's & Youth's Softball League practices and plays each weeknight during the months of May and June. The league is open to children ages 4 to 18, from all over Tangipahoa Parish.
A nominal registration fee is charged to cover the expenses of the field and equipment needed. Funding also comes from sponsors, and from the concessions sold at the practice and games. Donors have also generously given their time and materials.
This league is an opportunity to teach the children good sportsmanship. Rules are structured so that following them will allow the children to have good, clean fun with other children in their age group.
All work done at the ballpark is on a volunteer basis.
Many volunteers are needed to accomplish this.
Your Time and Talent is Appreciated!!!!!
Without the volunteers, the children of Tangi Parish
would not have this valuable community opportunity.
Safe Environment Program for Staff and Volunteers
As volunteers representing Our Lady of Pompeii Church,
both on the ball field and in the concession stand, all new volunteers,
ages 18 and older, are required to go online for training and certification
in the Child Protection Program just as all present staff
and previous volunteers of Our Lady of Pompeii have done.
This is a one-time process and is required before you will be allowed on the field.
All Ballpark Volunteers Can Use This Safe Environment Link
To Complete Your Part of the Child Protection Program.
(Scroll to the bottom of the page to find links to the three applications.)
Please turn in the signed and dated Code of Ethics Page,
completed eApps Application (incomplete applications cannot be processed),
and a copy (you keep the original for your records) of the printed Safe and Sacred Certificate.
When the applications are turned in, they are submitted for a background check
through the national processing database used by the Diocese of Baton Rouge.
This process is unique to the Diocese of Baton Rouge,
and is different than the process used by public schools and police departments in the area.
